Closer than we've been in years

We had drifted into living a life in parallel but never really truly together. We were at the point of deciding to part company but you helped us recover the love we both knew deep down that we wanted.

  • You feel you've drifted apart and lost your intimate connection.
  • You don't feel heard in the way you used to.
  • It's hard to have physical contact when you're not emotionally intimate.
  • You want to bring back the connection you once had.

Highly skilled couples counsellor

The homework was invaluable. Marléne helped us see through the destructive patterns that we were playing out and learn how to be more authentic and communicate in way that means we don't argue, we just get closer.

  • You're continuously bickering and fighting.
  • There's so much miscommunication.
  • There's resentment, hurt and emotional pain.
  • You want to restore the peace and have the happy, calm relationship you once had.

Thank you Marléne

All I can say is thank you for helping us save our relationship. You certainly know your stuff!

  • Your relationship has been damaged by an affair.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are you specifically qualified in Couples Therapy?

Yes, Couples Therapy is a special type of therapy, so it’s important that you get help from someone fully qualified in this field.I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Couples Counselling and am a member of the CCN, the Couples Counselling Network.

Why can’t we overcome our relationship problems by ourselves?

It’s likely that you’ve made several attempts at getting your relationship back on track- but even though you resolve things for a while, those problems keep popping back up –it can feel like quite a struggle.

It’s often the case that those problems are actually symptoms of deeper issues. With the help of a trained and experienced therapist, you can discover how those deeper issues may be impacting your relationship. Most importantly you can learn proven methods: tools and techniques to get past those issues – quickly and in ways that last.

Do we have to be married to come for couples counselling?

No, you do not have to be married. The only requirement is that you are in a relationship. I welcome couples in any kind of relationship, heterosexual, gay or lesbian; married or co-habiting; pre living together, separating or divorcing; with or without children.

How long are the sessions?

Couples Sessions are for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

This is longer than standard couples sessions which are 50-60 minutes – in my experience, 75 minutes works well for couples. It is an optimum length of time for you, because it allows plenty of time to work on your needs, without becoming too overwhelming.

How often will we have the sessions?

Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly. In your free 30-minute consultation we can discuss your personal needs and your schedule. We can then decide on the best fit for you.

What if my partner doesn't want to come for the sessions?

If you are worried about your relationship, but your partner wont come for sessions, you are absolutely welcome to come along as an individual client.

What if we decide we want to end the relationship?

Sometimes couples come to the conclusion that they are better off separating. Even though living apart, many people will continue to have a relationship of some description -and especially if you have children.  It's just that it will be a different kind of relationship.

It’s important that you find ways to communicate well and adjust to your new circumstances. Counselling sessions can help you negotiate this and find better ways of getting along for the future.

Where are you located?
